The Challenge
SR by Sonali Raman had been operating for nearly a decade, primarily through social media, pop-up events, and direct customer relationships. The brand had accumulated significant press coverage, a loyal customer base across the Gulf region and internationally, and a deep catalogue of collections. What it lacked was a digital platform that could hold all of this together: a place where the brand story, the product catalogue, the lookbooks, the media coverage, and the shopping experience lived under one roof.
What We Did
Homepage and Brand Introduction
The homepage opens with a full-width slideshow hero that sets the visual standard for the entire site. Below the hero, product carousels under headings like "Contemporary Styles, Traditional Ethos" and "Stylish. Seasonless. Consciously Made" present the brand's positioning through product presentation rather than manifesto copy. Category navigation tiles (New Collections, Jewelry, Dresses, Kaftans) give visitors an immediate visual path into the catalogue based on their interest.
The homepage achieves something that is harder than it sounds: it introduces a slow fashion brand with a serious ethical philosophy without making the first impression feel heavy or worthy. The visual tone is clean, fashion-forward, and inviting. The sustainability narrative is embedded in the design language rather than imposed through banners and badges.
Lookbook Collections as Editorial Experiences
This is where the website distinguishes itself from a standard WooCommerce store. The Collections page presents over twenty lookbook collections, each as its own visual story: Deco Dreams, A Very Scandi Summer, Registaan to Sahraa, Terra Turabi, Nuances of Naqda, Bohemian Repose, Sizzling Spice, Summer Sorbet, Lines from the Loom, The Caftan Edit, and more.
The Results
The fundamental challenge of building a website for a brand like SR by Sonali Raman is not technical. WooCommerce can handle variable products, international shipping, and discount codes. The challenge is editorial. How do you build a store that feels like a fashion brand's digital home rather than a product catalogue with a checkout?
