The Challenge
1. Absolute Zero Digital Presence
The client had a product ready but no digital footprint whatsoever. Zero indexed content. Zero keyword rankings. Zero backlink profile. Zero social media following on any platform. In a market where established logistics brands had years of SEO authority, thousands of backlinks, and built-out social communities, this startup was starting from a blank page.
2. Competing Against Entrenched Incumbents
The target keywords were not low-competition niches. Terms like "logistics companies in india" (5,400 monthly searches), "top logistics companies in india" (2,900), and "types of logistics" (2,400) were dominated by companies with massive domain authority. The startup needed a strategy that could realistically compete for these terms over time, not a naive attempt to rank on page 1 in week one.
3. Building Credibility in a Trust-Dependent Category
What We Did
1. SEO: Foundation First, Then Scale
The SEO strategy was staged deliberately. Rather than chasing high-volume keywords from day one and failing, we built authority progressively.
Month 1 (July): Laying the Groundwork. 16 blogs written, 11 taken live. Targeted branded keywords and long-tail logistics terms like "courier aggregator ecommerce" and "logistics aggregators" to establish early rankings. Built 500+ backlinks. Began clearing technical SEO audit errors including page speed and on-page elements.
Month 2 (August): Expanding the Keyword Universe. 6 new blogs published, bringing total live content to 15. Keywords ranking jumped from 5 to 29. Twenty new keywords started ranking in a single month, including mid-volume terms. Began targeting informational content around logistics industry topics to capture top-of-funnel search traffic.
Month 3 (September): High-Volume Keyword Push. Strategy shifted to target 22 high-search-volume keywords ranging from 390 to 5,400 monthly searches. Topics included "logistics companies in india," "best shipping company," "supply chain solutions," and "shiprocket alternative." Added 20 Quora posts to build topical authority and referral signals.
Month 4 (October): Ranking Consolidation. 15 of the 22 targeted high-volume keywords entered the top 50 positions. Several keywords broke into the top 20: "how to sell indian products in usa" (880 searches/month) reached position 11, "logistics company what do they do" (720 searches/month) hit position 8. Search impressions nearly tripled from 2,061 to 5,987. Total live blogs reached 26.
The Results
SEO Performance: July to October 2024
Key Takeaway
Start with winnable keywords, not aspirational ones. Targeting "logistics companies in india" (5,400 searches) from day one would have produced zero results for months. Starting with branded terms and long-tail phrases built early ranking signals and domain authority. By Month 4, those same high-volume keywords were entering the competitive range, because the foundation was built correctly.
