Beacon Counseling

Therapy Practice Website (USA)

A Mental Health Practice in Atlanta Needed a Website That Felt Safe Before a Single Word Was Read. Wonkrew Built a Clean, Calming Digital Front Door for a Counseling Practice Offering Eight Different Therapy Modalities.

The Challenge

Mental health websites operate under a unique design constraint that most other industries do not face: the visitor is often in a vulnerable emotional state. A person searching for a therapist is frequently dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship breakdown, or behavioural challenges in their child. The website cannot afford to feel clinical, corporate, cluttered, or overwhelming. It needs to feel safe, warm, and navigable within seconds. At the same time, Beacon Counseling offers a wide range of services across two distinct categories: counseling types (who is being helped) and therapy modalities (how they are being helped). A person looking for couples counseling needs a different entry point than a person researching EMDR for trauma. The information architecture had to serve both paths without creating confusion.

What We Did

Design Language: Calm, Clean, Trustworthy

The Beacon Counseling website uses a deliberately restrained design language. The colour palette is soft and muted, with warm earth tones that avoid the sterile whites of clinical websites and the overly bright colours of wellness brands. White space is used generously throughout, giving every element room to breathe. The typography is clean and readable. The homepage opens with an empathetic question rather than a sales pitch: "How are you feeling today?" This single design decision sets the emotional tone for the entire site.

The imagery is purposeful: calm, reassuring, human. The overall visual experience is one of quiet confidence rather than loud persuasion. For a practice where the first interaction may happen at 2am when someone cannot sleep, the design needed to feel like a gentle invitation rather than an aggressive conversion funnel.

Navigation Architecture: Counseling vs Therapy

The navigation separates the practice's offerings into two clear categories. Under "Counseling," visitors find services organised by who is being helped: Individual, Family, Couples, and Child & Adolescent. Under "Therapy," visitors find services organised by treatment methodology: CBT, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, Trauma Therapy, DBT, Attachment Therapy, Christian Integrative Therapy, and ERP Therapy.

The Results

The engagement delivered measurable improvements across key performance indicators, establishing a foundation for sustained growth.

Key Takeaway

This project demonstrates how targeted expertise and data-driven execution can deliver real business outcomes, not just vanity metrics.
